Headlamps

Headlamps, ranked on what they actually put on the trail

Manufacturers publish their mode tables in whatever shape suits them — some as output, runtime and distance sections, some as one line per mode with the figures in parentheses, some with mode names that do not match between their own sections. Nothing lines up until every published mode is put on one shared grid.

Brands

One page per brand, each with its complete figures and its own compare tool.

A headlamp’s headline lumen number is its brightest mode, which most lights can only hold for minutes. The figure that decides a night hike is the output it sustains, and how far that actually throws — so every mode a manufacturer publishes is classified onto one grid of beam type and level before anything is compared.

How to read these

  • Lumens is total light output; beam distance is how far the manufacturer claims it usefully reaches. They are not the same thing — a flood beam scores high on the first and low on the second.
  • Runtime is quoted at a stated mode. Comparing a turbo runtime against another light’s low runtime tells you nothing.

Caveats

  • Prices are list prices at the time of capture and move with promotions.
